It’s a five-day speaking event from March 21st – March 25th in the San Francisco bay area.
According to Robert Evans, founder of the Messenger Network, the Messenger Summit will be the largest gathering of transformational leaders (messengers) in 2012. The +100 talks that will be given over these five days will answer the question “How does my message inspire and change the world?”
Cool stuff.
The leaders slated so far are: Continue reading
Amazing how time flies. Seems it’s accelerating, and that’s really scary.
My bet is that the next year will continue the roller coaster ride, but I’m an eternal optimist and I’m also clear that the downs make the ups possible—and the roller coaster fun. Continue reading
I always love it when business does direct good in the world. No collateral damage, no polluted streams, no plastic in the oceans, no smog in the air.
Instead, as the result of your taking action to help yourself learn what you need to get more out of your life, businesses help disadvantaged people to get an education. Continue reading
Fans or haters of the blockbuster marketing success “The Secret” may know of Jerry & Esther Hicks.
Co-authors of many books on the Law of Attraction (Ask and it is Given, the Astonishing Power of Emotions, the Law of Attraction and more) Esther Hicks is the star of the duo, and she was the one who originally appeared on the original version of the Secret.
Jerry Hicks was the supporter of Esther—the wind beneath her wings—and sadly, after what seems a brief bout with cancer, Jerry Hicks died on November 18th , 2011.
For many people this has again stirred up controversy about the so-called “law” of attraction. Continue reading
James Ray was finally sentenced last Friday to 2 years in prison for negligent homicide.
As a proponent of lifelong learning and what some people call personal development or self-help, I’m getting a little pissed off that people involved with the James Ray trial have been talking about James Ray and the tragedy in Sedona as if it’s an example of what’s wrong with the self-help industry.
As if
(1) this case is somehow typical—it’s not. I’m not aware of any other self-help companies or teachers that have killed their students (intentionally or unintentionally),
You betcha. Started in 2007 by Dave Cynkin and Rick Calvert, the Blogworld and New Media Expo is now a twice yearly event—you guessed it: New York and LA.
This year, the one in Los Angelos was held on November 3rd through November 5th and the New York one was back in May. Continue reading
Writing a review may seem easy, but if you’re really being responsible to the persons reading your review, as well as the person or organization being reviewed it requires some care on your part.
Here are four things to avoid: Continue reading
Spoke to Connie Joy today about her book Tragedy in Sedona: My Life in James Arthur Ray’s Inner Circle. In case you didn’t know three people died at one of James‘ events in Sedona, Arizona two years ago.
James Ray was an excellent teacher (he was in the blockbuster “The Secret“), but an even better con man who lied about his credentials and was hell bent on becoming the richest man in the personal development or self-help space.
In her book Connie talks about the need for a place for people to share their experiences about teachers and courses (ahem MorevidaReviews.com?) so that people can learn of the concerns about fakes like James Ray, and for some sort of industry regulation that could mandate or at least facilitate the verification of the claimed credentials of people like James Ray who made claims about achieving shaman or high priest status that turned out to be false. Louise Hay, the octogenarian head of the self-help publishing empire that is Hay House opened the New York leg of the “I Can Do It” conference on Saturday September 17th 2011, by welcoming all 2500 mostly female attendees to “a banquet of the mind.”
“You’ll be hearing lots of speakers who will be saying the same things, just in different words.”
The crowd laughed and applauded in appreciation.
With this kind of self-effacing humor it was easy to see why the crowd was so willing to give a standing ovation at the very mention of her name.
Vishen Lakhiani and the “Awesome” people at FinerMinds.com are putting together a really cool upcoming event that you should attend if you can get invited to. Check my little video commentary about it. There’s a link below that you can use to request an invite.
